Rotaro in Nigeria

Ajo, Esusu, Adashe, Osusu

Ajo, esusu, adashe or osusu: the circle is the same. Everyone pays in on schedule, and each round one member takes the pot. Rotaro gives the group one record everybody can check, in naira, with the group's data kept in Nigeria.

How a group pays

  1. Members pay the round's recipient directly, by bank transfer, and mark it in the app. The recipient confirms, and only then does it count.

  2. Automatic payments come later: each member gets their own account number for the group from a licensed partner, a transfer into it counts as their contribution by itself, and the partner pays the pot to the recipient on the payout date.

What runs today

  • Groups in naira, paid by bank transfer between members and confirmed by the recipient.
  • Reminders by push, email and text; WhatsApp reminders in one tap for the organiser.
  • Free for small groups; paid plans for bigger ones, paid by the organiser on this website.

What comes next

  • Automatic payments: each member gets their own account number for the group from a licensed partner, a transfer into it counts as their contribution by itself, and the partner pays the pot to the recipient on the payout date.
